Classicism Gilt Wall Mirror, Austria circa 1830

Fabulous Classicism Gilt Wall Mirror from Austria around 1830. The overlapped substructure made of spruce wood was connected with wooden nails (see picture #8). The surface shows a marvelous gold leaf cover and even the original facet-cut mirror glass survived over the last 178 years, just showing some aging spots (lead or tin). Delightful floral applications in the corners, two for this time typical stucco stripes and the partially shining through red "Bolus" - even the overlapping of the gold leaf technique is visible - gives this large antique Wall Mirror the "extra" portion of charm. The bottom edge was slightly restored by our experts. This graceful golden Wall Mirror is ready for wall mounting with a hand-forged ring on the backside.
