Art Nouveau Metal Planter, Austria circa 1910

Charming large Art Nouveau Metal Planter from Austria around 1910. This eye-catching planter or flower pedestal reflects the typical Art Nouveau style perfectly. Made with the so-called "hammer blow" technique - an elaborate art of metal surface treatment - the unique design shows attached metal drops and builds three levels: a big main compartment in the middle which can be filled with earth and be planted; underneath you will find space for your flowerpots or garden accessories; the highest level is built by three little floating pots for your creative use, embellish by gilt balls. The execution of this super decorative work gives us the idea that this extraordinary piece would come out of the environment of the famous "Wiener Werkstaette". The inside was lacquered with green paint to avoid erosion through humidity.
