Amphora Vase Majolica by Wilhelm Schiller & Son, Bohemia circa 1890

A rare and unusual Amphora Vase, made by the famous Majolica manufacturer Wilhelm Schiller & Son around 1890. It is composed of a majolica/ ceramic bulbous formed body with an marvelous green speckled glaze, open work ormolu mouth, scrolled handles and pierced foot. It is hallmarked underneath with the famous "WS&S" mark and No.8662 and a mark reading "PATENT 2." Although we are not 100% sure, it is likely that this piece is one of a very few coming directly from the workshop of Wilhelm Schiller.
